So what does gifted education look like in Ohio? Ohio mandates and partially funds gifted education (about 2/3 of gifted expenditures in Ohio are funded by the state) – but that doesn’t tell the whole story. If gifted education is not funded by the state, districts with more robust local funding may be able to provide more-comprehensive gifted education programs, thus increasing parents’ desire to enroll their students in these programs. While the cause of this gap is unknown, the matter of funding could be a factor. ![]() Students in low-poverty schools are almost twice as likely to participate in gifted programs than students in high-poverty schools, even though high and low-poverty schools offer gifted programming at the same rate. This is particularly alarming when students move across state lines. I don’t see LEGO topping this one any time soon, but it’s just not for me. I must commend LEGO for not holding back in any shape or form, and for going all out in creating what is undoubtedly the ultimate LEGO Star Wars set. This set will sell like hot cakes, and LEGO will make an absolute killing from Star Wars fans who have been hungry for the long-awaited remake/re-issue of the UCS Millennium Falcon. I could buy myself a new phone for that price and I’d probably get way more utility out of it, but that’s just the sensible adult in me talking. While this set is purely aimed at Adult Collectors and the AFOL crowd, and it will sell well, I don’t ever see how I could personally justify dropping such a huge amount on a collectible. Don’t get me wrong, I love LEGO but I cannot see myself ever paying so much for a LEGO set, no matter how well designed it is.
